With this March issue of the ACFRI Newsletter, we finally get to reveal to you a labor of love that the entire board has been pouring ideas, long hours, painstaking effort and expertise into for the past few months. We’re busier than ever. The weather is starting to change and we are vamping up for some great events in the coming months. Please come out and share in the spirit of giving back if you can.
Our March meeting was hosted by Gotham Greens in Providence. I want to thank Christina and her team for welcoming us. I also want to thank Chef Ken Watt, CEC for organizing our March meeting and putting a great spread out using Gotham Greens lettuce and pesto. I thank everyone who came, it was a great turnout with over 20 members and guest. Unfortunately, we could not get a complete tour due to food safety issues related to the coronavirus outbreak.
Our 45th Chapter Anniversary dinner is fast approaching. Chef Angie Armenise will be hosting us at Blackie’s in Smithfield. To coincide with our 45th anniversary we are charging $45 per person. Seats will be limited to 55, so be sure to get your tickets early.
Chef Joseph Leonardi CMC, will host our joint May meeting with The Epicurean club of Boston at his bee farm in Plainville, MA on Sunday, May 3 with weather permitting. Come join us to learn all about all things Honey and Beekeeping.
We have two fundraisers coming up in the next few months. We have partnered with the D-Strong foundation and will be hosting a pasta dinner at Dan’s Tavern on the Green in North Kingstown on April 24th. Chef Ken Watt is the point person for this event. And of course, we have our 29th Annual Golf Tournament at Jamestown Golf Course on May 18th. Chef Daniel Van Etten is the golf chair and contact for this event. Volunteers will be needed for both events. Don’t forget. Tell us what you think and what you want to hear more about.
