December 29, 2019 Archive, President's News letter

The holiday season is in full swing. This is the time of the year when we reflect on the past and peer into the future to form an idea about what the coming year will hold. It is also a time to reflect and celebrate a job well done. I have spoked with many members about our challenges as a chapter. I have also spoken with numerous presidents of other chapters. From rising membership costs to offering meetings with educational relevance, we face many challenges in trying to maintain a sustainable future. But in the face of these challenges, I keep focusing on one thing, our commitment to hospitality.
To most chefs it is that extra bit of attention to detail that sets us apart from others. It is in our DNA. ACFRI has a long and rich history. This coming year we will be celebrating our 35th anniversary. It has always been a challenge to attract new members. By and large, our members have been with us for a long time, some from the very beginning, with consistent involvement and an unwavering commitment to volunteering and spreading good cheer. Being the current president is something I am truly proud of in my career.
Our members are our most important asset. And it is vital for us to attract new members and Chefs to replace the folks who retire or move on to other things. Well that’s the goal, right? TO PAY IT FORWARD……
So, as you peer into your own crystal ball and try to figure out what 2020 will look like for yourself, the ACFRI board and I hope that you will continue to see the American Culinary Federation as a valuable resource vital to the hospitality industry. Happy Holidays and I wish you all a prosperous New Year.
Our Janurary Meeting will be at the RI Food Bank. Please bring a non-perishable item with you. I look forward to connecting with you at an upcoming event. Don’t forget. Tell us what you think and what you want to hear more about. I’m always a click away at rmccue@jwu.edu. Please check out our website WWW.ACFRI.ORG
